Former Togolese Prime Minister Gilbert Fossoun Houngbo new IFAD president

Rome, 14 - 15 February 2017 - Former Togolese Prime Minister Gilbert Fossoun Houngbo was elected president of the UN International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) by the Governing Council. His election comes at a time when many developing countries in sub-Saharan Africa, Kenya included, are experiencing food shortage due to climate change effects.
